I promise I will never, ever, ever click on a fic link titled "Link to Charlie Angst fic that Amita Haters will love!! " Just no.

Also the last episode of Numb3rs (One Hour) was one of my favourites. Megan was awesome, (as always) Amita was awesome and was so turned on by Charlie's cake!Maths. (Talk maths to me, baby.) In fact everyone was awesome, and I didn't even mind there was no Alan or Larry.

So, I've been mentally composing posts in my head for ages, but each one starts of with an explanation of why I haven't posted for ages, and then descends into whining about too many children, husbands in Norwich and imminent nervous breakdowns. And I don't want my LJ posts to be whining about how hard my life is. So please take it as read any unexplained absences are due to RL getting over demanding.

I am hideously behind on fandom, and am behind on nearly all the shows I watch, not helped by the fact I've started watching Eureka and Heroes in addition to NCIS, Numb3rs, Supernatural and SGA. Given that I have to wait for Doug to be around to watch these, and then we both have to in the mood for telly watching, and the kids have got to co-operate, (we're having a fun time with the girls bedtimes at the moment. I can't remember the last time I managed to watch a programme all the way through without having to pause it at least once), it's been incredibly easy to slip behind with our viewing. (Which means there's a huge amount of fic I'm not reading at the moment as I don't want to be spoiled).

By the way - I am so totally in love with Megan from Numb3rs and Teyla from SGA and they are now my crossover OTP.

And the mocking of Gordon Ramsey made me gleeful )

OK, I'm going to start with my one negative comment. Why the hell did they make me wait all season for that?

That was what I've been wanting from my Doctor Who since New Earth )

Is it Christmas yet?

We've just watched yesterday's episode...

It wasn't Doctor Who, but I loved it.

And Elton? Totally my new woobie. )

Also how many people are considering what they write in their LJ's today, very, very carefully? And has anyone informed [livejournal.com profile] time_and_chips that it wasn't the comm featured in the confidential yet? (And that online DW fandom doesn't revolve around that community?)

Just watched the NCIS season finale.

And just...

I mean...

...

WTF?

...

And if it's permanent, well at least I've got three seasons to re-watch and re-watch.

But really, WTF?

It amuses me that Play.com's list of "People who bought NCIS Season One also bought..." is headed by Camberwick Green and Chigley.

I dare you to write that crossover.

Well it's back.

Well, here's to the bandwagon - My Johari window.

Onto fandom - NCIS peeps, if you haven't already, go read this ficlet, (even though it's in the drabble community, it is not a drabble being far more than 100 words.  Bah!).  A really good character sketch, which made me miss Kate all over again.  It also made me laugh.

Speaking of NCIS, I've been getting back into it after a long absense.  And Probie near enough broke my heart.  Poor little woobie!Tim.  (And I'm also hating Madam Director even more, despite wanting to like her, whereas Ziva who I thought I'd hate for replacing Kate, I really, really like.)

Speaking of Ziva and Kate, I've decided Kate/Ziva is my OTP of choice, despite it being problematic in that Ziva got introduced because Kate got a bullet through the head.  Because just think of the issues between them - Ari, Ari and oh! Ari.  Plus the whole Gibbs is my Boss who is a father figure to me but I really really fancy him. On the plus side I now have lots of plot bunnies for the [livejournal.com profile] crossovers100.  (I really must type up the fics I've already done for that)

And does anyone know when Doctor Who is going to start airing? I'm guessing around March time, but I don't know for sure.

Oh, and on a non-fandom note - remember my crap consultant? I spoke to my midwife about changing consultants, explaining why and she was behind me totally, saying that she thought he ought to have retired five years ago. (She also agreed with me on waterbirths and said she wished that they were allowed to take twin births at the birth centre).  Anyway she went off to phone the hospital to get me transferred to a different consultant and came back with a huge grin on her face - apparently he retired the week before!

So that probably explains why he was so totally dismissive with us, and we have a new consultant. It's a woman and she is, by all reports, far more progressive. Yay!

I'm no longer feeling down. 'cos DOCTOR WHO SQUEEEE! (Link slightly on the spoilery side.)

It's Not About Harry Potter!

Last Sunday I was at car Boot sale with Doug and the boys, when I was presented with incontrovertible proof that Fandom Has Taken Over My Life. I bought a 2000 Billie, Princess of Pop Annual. Granted it was only 50p, but still... I'd seen it, laughed at the rather naff choice of pictures on the cover, and walked on. It was as I walked away I had a little voice going through my head "Come on, buy it. You could have a laugh at the photo's. You could scan in the pictures and share them with the online who fans. After all, the non-British fans have escaped her pop career so far... Come on, it would be funny." So, whilst Doug headed to other side of the field and tried to pretend he wasn't married to me, I went back and bought it. And now I share it's delights with you, my fellow Doctor Who fans.

(I tried posting this last night, but thanks to a massive thunderstorm, the network went down.)

Trying to read the threads at Slashdot make my head hurt. :-(

We went up to Camerton Primary this evening, to meet the teachers and find out what's expected of us as parents when Owen starts there in september.

It's the cutest little school, this year they have a confirmed intake of three, and two more possibles. Owen's class will consist of 3 Reception age children, 8 Year Ones and 6 Year Twos. The whole school is sixty children in total. My neice's school is one of the smaller Bristol schools, and their intake this september will be about a hundred.

One of the things that got mentioned was taking the classes out for walks, and the Teacher said how she always made sure her class was the first each Autumn to walk down the track to the Conker Tree, (Horsechestnut) so that the little ones get first go at the conkers. Made me all nostalgic. (I can remember coming home from school with conkers spilling out of my coat pockets, I'd collected so many.)

But it is really wierd to think he's going to be at School in November. We're going to be ordering his uniform soon, (the school emblem is a Miner's Lamp) and I still can't get my head around the fact that he's now longer a toddler.

One thing that's taken me by surprise is the sheer quality of the New Who fanfic thats appearing in the comms; the good stuff, at the moment, is out numbering the bad stuff. I know the bad stuff's out there, (I had a brief look over at ff.net and eek!) but it doesn't seem to be as pervasive as it normally is. Do people agree, or is my perception wacked? And if you do agree, any theories as to why?

Couple of recs...

Once Upon a Time by [livejournal.com profile] tangledwood - Jabe fic, spoilers up to The End of The World. Absolutely stunning look at Jabe, and making her death a lot harder to bear.

Breaking the Rules by [livejournal.com profile] boro_girl - Do not read until you have seen Parting of the Ways. Why Rose makes the choices she does.

And lastly [livejournal.com profile] mythichistorian has got four parts written of a Doctor Who/Buffy crossover. Go read. Now.

(Oh, and if you haven't read [livejournal.com profile] sangga's Deshabille, why not?)

Is it Christmas yet?

Sorry, more Doctor Who.

This has been bugging me fore the last couple of days, but I haven't seen anyone else raise it...Question about PotW )

Also, why are people saying that's not Billie's voice?Read more... )

AlsoSpoilery GIP for POTW )

Someone in [livejournal.com profile] galactic_conman has posted a tentive list of Episode Titles for the second season, and I really didn't think it was possible for me to look forward to it any more.  Is it Christmas yet?

I've just wasted far too much time searching for Doctor/Rose/Jack fic.  There is not nearly enough.  Spoilerish for Parting of the Ways )

I saw the Chrismas Invasion teaser on the BBC to night too. God, they're taunting us aren't they? (Is it Christmas yet?)Yes I will ask this every time I talk about Doctor Who

One of the BBC new feeds headlines was Saudis dismiss Rice's criticism

My first thought was the Anne Rice had got bored with Jesus and was moving on to Muslims. Well, with her nothing's too batshit insane is it?

***

We're going to the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park! Doug's youngest Brother had tickets for him and his wife, but now can't go, so they're giving them to us! Eeeeee! Pretty excited because I've never been to any kind of big concert before, and this one is kinda big.

Roses fight back. I beat the bastards and they're now looking neat and tidy (ish), but they made me pay for my victory.

I just excavated a thorn from my thumb. (My arms are also scratched to buggery).

I think parents should be awarded badges like in Brownies and Scouts. Tonight I totally won my "Getting sleeping child out of wet pyjamas and his bed stripped without waking him or his brother. I rule as a Mama!

Still obsessed with Parting of the Ways.  I rewatched it yesterday and found myself even more emotional than I was on Saturday.  It's also been cool to see Doctor Who take over my friends list, a feat I would not have believe possible at the beginning of the year.  Is it Christmas yet?

OH... MY... GOD...

IZ DED FROM FANDOM

You were fantastic )

Doctor Who third series confirmed Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  And Billie will return for the whole series two. (See icon for my reaction.) Plus the lovely BBC put the spoilers for saturday night's episode, beneath a spoiler warning and huge spoiler space.  Therefore I am still unspoiled for Saturday! Yay! *Hearts BBC muchly*

I was, earlier on in the week, feeling rather reluctant about PotW, mainly due to CE's leaving, but I'm now starting to get excited about DT's Doctor and although I know it's going to be Christmas before we get to see Ten in action properly. Still.  JUST TWO MORE DAYS TO GO.

I might have eaten a bit to much sugar tonight.

*Jumps up and polkas madly around the room*

Made a few new icons

1. Four More )

And a quick Higniffy bit before I go, I have a new OTP - Boris/The Gruffalo.  OK, so it's not series canon, but I think his blog should probably count as second level canon.  And the image of him reading The Gruffalo to a bunch of three year olds? Too cute for words. (The Gruffalo is my favourite book to read aloud to the boys)

PS I am sticking my tongue out whilst crossing my eyes at those people moaning about the newbie fans in the Doctor Who fandom at the same time as trying to establish their old skool fan cred.  Whilst my DW fannishness does not go back as far some (I was only born in '75) I have been a fan as long as I can remember (4th Doctor) complete with posters on walls (7th Doctor and Ace) and books and mechandise, and I still take great pleasure in squeeing like a school girl over the gorgeousnesss that is Christopher Eccleston, Billie Piper and John Barrowman. 'cos whilst I uphold your right to enjoy the show with your sober, indepth analysis, I also uphold my right to blather on about OT3 and be completely shallow in the face of all this hawtness. And I tell you what? I'm so going to have fun doing so. So there!
thedivinegoat_archive: (Default)
Owen's party went amazingly well today, the weather was perfect, the kids had a whale of a time, and the adults seemed to enjoy themselves too. Plus the Cake didn't turn out too bad (I made all the fences myself /pride ).

The only bad thing was that I got interupted putting on my suncream, and forgot that I hadn't finished doing it.  I now have really bad sunburn on my shoulder and across my back.  (Normally I'm really parinoid about the sun, and wear a 5 star factor 50).  Ouch!

Doctor Who related - [livejournal.com profile] jacinthsong is holding a mini caption contest over in her journal...

Also I'm confused. spoilers for tonight and speculation )

And did anyone catch Doctor Who Confidential? When Tom Baker, (at least I think it was he) said "Fanlove is superior to normal love, because fanlove endures."

I <3 Tom Baker.
