Lets assume, for whatever reason, you have no ability to write fanfiction. None. And yet you are an avid reader, can't get enough of it.
So what's worse, your dream fic being written badly, or not written at all?

Someone wrote what I think is the first crossover of my two favourite fandoms, and yep, it was not good.
However I can't decide whether it would have been better to have no fic at all, or a badly written fic which I can then mentally edit and revise into something better.

Um. Though I read some badly executed fics and then rewritten them in my head. And in IMs. And on paper. And...yes.
