BBC news alerts have just reported that Richard Whitely has died at the age 61.

Quite sad over the news, as he was such a personality. But what makes it even poignant is that Channel Four has been running a trail, when in celebrities are asked how they want to be remembered after their death.

Richard Whitely is last celebrity featured. He wants (wanted) to remembered as the very first person to appear on Channel Four.

I've just watched the Life of Grime Tribute to Edmund Trebus. It's strange watching the programme about him - whilst you feel that his sanity must have been in question and the council took the only course of action open to it, you couldn't help rooting for him. I found the scenes at the nursing home oddly upsetting. I knew that he seemed happy there, and that he was getting amazing care, and that whilst he didn't die in the squalor of his house, it was sad to see him without that spark of fighting spirit that saw him climbing scaffolding (at the age of 82!) to try and prevent the council workers form clearing his garden.

If only I could have his strength of will at 82.
