Got here...following links. It's 3 am and I can't sleep, apologies for my shoddy memory and possible incoherence.
People get so angry when their privilege is threatened, don't they? I mean, I know this, but somehow it continues to surprise me. I couldn't even finish Dr. Horrible because I didn't like anyone in it, and then I found out that Penny got fridged, which is just worse, and gah.
But what really sticks in my craw is that if these people love Joss Whedon so much, you'd think they'd invite criticism. I mean, Buffy didn't get all those academic conferences by being a show that had to be worshipped unquestioningly-- it had stuff Worth Debating, and Interesting Controversies, and Cool Bits. And somehow, when the stuff Worth Debating involves calling Joss on his bullshit, that's forbidden? Screw that. I call out stuff I don't like in shows all the time-- why should Joss get a free pass because he's a self-proclaimed feminist?
