This entry fueled by Green & Black's Maya Gold and Jamesons.

So the silly season isn't just restricted to the Real World, fandom is having it's own wankalicious Silly Season right now.

People are strange.

The CJ thing for instance.  Leaving aside the right and wrongs of it for now, it's as if everyone went "Weee, legitimate target.  Let's go and kick the metaphorical shit out of her." I mean I think she was beyond stupid for what she did, and the whole GOd Made Me Do It? Insane.  But the unholy glee with which people went for her?  Just a tad on the unseemly side.

Then we have the S6 Buffy truamatised the spuffy fans so much they turned to slash thing. Which just makes me want to cry with laughter.  Or just cry for the human race.  Me? I'm a Buffy/Clem girl all the way.  Blem? Cluffy?

Then we have the perinnal favourite - Debate the Ethics of RPS which is mostly OK until we get to - So I have a question for you...just when DO you tell someone where that line is drawn? When its written about someone under-aged? When it involves rape? When it does it deem important enough to tell someone, "Hey weirdo, STOP writing your sick and twisted fan crap"?

Only  I can't understand a lot of what she's saying 'cos she keeps on RANDOMLY insertly CAPSLOCK words into her paragraphs.  And my BRAIN keeps on LATCHING onto the words in CAPSLOCK and ignoring the REST.  (This was before the JAmesons BTW).  Especially when every other word is RAPE.

And I think you all know what my opinion on RPS is. Points to icon.  Although it helps that I'm slashing people that routinely indulge in RPS themselves on the show.  (Or at least Paul does, and Ian blindly follows)  But then again Higniffy* RPS is the half-brother of Political RPS and even the International Media partake of that.  (Back around the begining of the Iraq War, it seemed as if every journalist worth their salt was a Bush/Blair shipper). BTW Does anyone have a cap of the Photomanip they did with Ian and Anne Widdecombe as The Doctor and Rose? (And who was disappointed it was Anne not Paul as Rose?) Also what happened to Donna McPhail? Is she still around?

And then we have the hotlinking morons at myspace and the girl selling someone else's photmanips on ebay for $537. (And who has that sort of money to spend on manips anyway? If you've got money burning a hole in your pocket, and you want to buy some art work go and spend it here.  Much better value for money.  And I'm not just saying that because I'm related to the artist.)

Ack.  Need to be asleep.

*Anyone relatively new to my journal who doesn't know what HIGNFY is, this should explain it fairly thoroughly.

Donna McPhail writes a column for Diva every month. *nods* Have not heard much about her stand-up show lately though.

Yay for RPS! :D
